In Chapter 8, students are expected to be able to appreciate and create theatrical arts, namely:
- Identifying the steps in designing a theater performance,
- Identifying the needs of theatrical performances,
- Describe the steps in designing a theater performance,
- Exploring stage techniques in the form of stage designs,
- Designing technical stage layout, and
- Communicate the performance plan verbally and/or in writing.
Theatrical performances will be successful if they are carried out through careful planning. Theatrical performances require adequate facilities and infrastructure, both stage design, accompaniment design, costume design and make-up. The stage design is adjusted to the theme of the theater to be performed. The stage design greatly supports the story of the theater performance. Observe some of the stage designs below.
After you observe the picture of the drama/theater performance above, answer the following questions:
- Does the stage setting affect the storyline?
- What do you think about the costumes and make-up in the theatrical performance image above?
- Is make-up important in a theater performance?
- What do you think about the differences in stage layout in the images above?
- You can observe nature-themed theater performances from other sources such as the internet, watching performances on VCD, and other learning resources.
You can observe children's, youth's, or traditional theater performances through other learning resources.

A. Designing Theater Performances
Theater art is one form of human activity that consciously uses the body as the main element. Theater art is also called performing arts which is supported by elements of movement, voice, sound, and appearance which are woven into a story of struggle about human life. In its implementation, theater art always requires many people. This is known as collective art, one with another needs each other, therefore it requires the involvement of many people. In order for theater performances to be more focused, a committee needs to be formed which will be responsible for their respective fields of work.
1. Form a Committee
When you form a committee, what must be considered is uniting the hearts and consciousness of all involved for the purpose of making a good, successful, and successful performance. The performance must be carried out as a show that provides valuable lessons for all supporters and audiences. The committee worked well so that it managed to attract a large audience who could appreciate our performance. The success achieved motivates us to stage a new show even better in the future.
If the committee has been formed, then arrange the tasks, functions, and responsibilities of each unit so that it is easier to organize the work. The committee is an organization that is fully responsible for the success of the implementation of the theater performance. Each member of the committee will know who to report to if there are problems in the field.
The chairman of the committee is the manager in the performance organization. The chairman is responsible for the success of the performance. Committee members have an obligation to help each other with other units so that the workload is evenly distributed.
After the committee has been formed, the next step is to divide the tasks of each committee member. Fill in the following table with the help of the supervising teacher.
2. Create a Stage Design
The creation of the stage design must be adjusted to the needs of the script being worked on. A script that tells about the environment in the forest, then must design a setting or stage background in the form of a picture of a forest complete with trees made three-dimensional. Property equipment or equipment that supports the atmosphere on stage needs to be made such as stones, twigs, wooden houses, and so on. The setting and properties should be with creativity and utilize used materials that are formed into objects that have aesthetic value.
Knowledge of stage engineering is needed to know how to work well in designing a performance. Introduction to the terms of theater performance venues and several types of performance arenas can provide an overview to be more creative in designing a performance.
The stage in question is not only a theater stage that has been officially built in a performance building. You can use a classroom, a school hall, even a school field as a stage for a theater performance. Your creativity and understanding of stage management can be realized. Here are some examples of stages and performance venues that can be used as a source of inspiration.
3. Do Exercises
The rehearsal process is very necessary in designing a theater performance. There is no success without effort and hard work. Theater rehearsals are usually led by a theater coach or rehearsal coordinator. Rehearsals leading up to the performance are usually carried out directly by the director who is appointed to handle the performance.
Good practice begins with routine warm-up exercises, body exercises that are useful for preparing the players' fitness, and voice exercises that are useful for the readiness of the players' voice equipment. Regular and sufficient practice time every week, then a good performance can be realized.
Before practicing towards a script for performance, you should do exercises to hone your spontaneity and improvisation skills in the form of role-playing games.
Pantomime Practice
- Perform people's daily movements according to the theme without using voice, aka pantomime.
- People rushing to catch a bus
- Activities of sellers and buyers in the market
- The atmosphere of the animals in the forest
- Exploring space with a plane
You can find other activities. Here is an example of a short theater script with a nature theme that can be used for role practice, vocal exercises, body exercises, or emotional exercises.
SI PIKO "Greedy Fish"
(adapted from the story Piko by Ekpur)
Characters: Piko, Nori, Qori, Bolu, Koki
Narration: Nori is an orphaned fish, his father and mother have died, he only lives with his older brother. They are very close because they don't have any other siblings. Nori's older brother named Piko is very greedy and greedy. Every time Nori gets a worm, Piko always takes it, even so Nori is never angry because Piko is his only older brother. Now he always looks for worms for Piko. Nori only eats small animals and moss.
Nori : Sis, look! There's a worm hiding here, hurry up Sis, it wants to escape
Qori: Come on Piko...catch the worm
Piko: Hmmmm....very delicious, thank you Nori.... You are indeed a good little brother, but sorry... I really like eating worms.
Nori: It's okay, Sis, I'm glad you're getting fatter.
Piko: Yes... I've gotten fatter... it must be because I ate a lot of worms.
Piko can't control his lust, every time he sees a worm he grabs it no matter what the risk is, even if he has to fight with other fish.
One day, Nori saw a fat worm wriggling in the water. He approached it slowly, it seemed a bit suspicious. Strange.... Even though it was moving, the worm was still in place.
Nori : What is that......???(while probing)
Piko: Wow, what a fat worm.
Piko was very happy that Nori found a worm, without asking Piko immediately ate it.
Nori: Don't......nnnn
But it was too late... Piko had already devoured the worm and Nori realized the danger. It turned out that the worm that Piko had eaten was bait for the hook, and the hook was stuck in Piko's mouth.
Piko: Eeeeeeeekkk!!!! Tooolooo......ng
Bolu and Koki saw Piko and they immediately tried to break the fishing line, while Piko was still wincing in pain.
Piko: Aaaaaahh......it hurts
Nori: Be patient, Sis......
Chef: Calm down Piko, we will try to help you.
Finally, Chef and Bolu managed to cut the fishing line.
Nori: Alhamdulillah.... Thank you friends.
Piko was still wincing in pain
Piko: Hu...hu...hu...hu... sakkkkiiit
Bolu and Koki approached and said,
Bolu: Come on Piko, the danger has passed.
Chef: Yes...
Bolu: Luckily we came quickly, otherwise....
Chef: Yes, of course....
Nori: Thank you guys. Brother... say thank you to Bolu and Koki because they saved you earlier.
Piko: hu...hu..hu.. thank you guys, forgive me... forgive me... I will change my attitude and I promise to be a good older brother to my little sister Nori... Nori, forgive your older brother, okay!. Hu... hu... hu...
Bolu and Koki: Come on Piko, we've forgiven you...
Qori: What's wrong? What's wrong with Piko, my friends?
Bolu and Koki: Aaahh... you're Qori, where have you been???
Qori: He..he....he....
Nori: Okay... Okay... I'll tell you later, okay?
Qori.. now I want to take care of my brother first
Qori: Okay... I'll wait for your story, okay?
Nori: Thank you God.... You have given good friends to me and my brother Piko.
Qori, Chef, Bolu: Amen...amen...amen..
Moral Message: People who cannot control their lust will definitely suffer misfortune.

PRM BROTHER:
Where are the coyotes?
YANTI:
Look at that, that... always approaching Yanti's pets... where is Mr. Lik?
PRM BROTHER:
Oh, no... that must be the coyote that often eats people's pets... Mr. Lik, Mr. Lik...
MR. LIK:
APPEAR. What are you guys fighting over?
YANTI & K.PRM :
There are coyotes.
MR. LIK:
Coyote? Where is it... Wow, its eyes are so big, it must be the one that usually steals pets. I better get a gun. EXIT.
YANTI:
But, sis, Yanti saw that the coyote just kept quiet. It was only because the pets were afraid to be approached so they made a fuss.
PRM BROTHER:
Ah, that can't be it. Coyotes are always sneaky.
YANTI:
But Yanti saw that this animal was not like that, Sis.
PRM BROTHER:
All coyotes are the same, Yanti.
YANTI:
Yanti saw that the coyote was sick. Yes, like it was sick, sis.
PRM BROTHER:
If the coyote is sick, of course all the animals you keep won't fight over it.
YANTI:
All animals are seized, sis, if anyone comes near them.
PRM BROTHER:
That's true, dear. But I see that the animals you keep are scared because the one who came is not their own kind.
YANTI:
Maybe, sis. But Yanti is sure that the coyote that came near our house this time is a good coyote.
PRM BROTHER:
You're just being silly. Where are there any good-hearted coyotes, Yanti?
YANTI : No, Sis. Yanti is sure that this coyote will be a good friend.
PRM'S BROTHER: Never mind, darling, have mercy on your other animals, instead of being eaten by the dog, the coyote should be shot.
MR. LIK: APPEAR. Where? I'll shoot from here and it'll definitely hit.
YANTI: PREVENT. Mr. Lik, don't, don't shoot the dog.
MR LIK: Why is that, Yanti?
PRM'S BROTHER: Yanti thought this coyote was a dog with a good heart.
MR. LIK: Where is a good-hearted coyote? Then what do you want to do with the dog?
YANTI: Yanti saw the coyote was sick. And Yanti wanted to keep it like the other animals.
MR LIK: Why is that?
YANTI: Yanti is happy to have chickens, rabbits and so on, but Yanti wants to have friends to play with. This means that dogs are animals that can be taught like humans.
BROTHER PRM: That's for ordinary dogs.
MR. LIK: But the coyote can't, dear. We'd better shoot it. Look, your other animals are also fighting over the dog.
YANTI: Yanti asked him not to shoot it, Mr. Lik, that's right, don't shoot it. Yanti wants to keep it. THE ANIMALS GET MORE NOISY.
SISTER PRM: Look, your animals are fighting over each other, Yanti. You should feel more pity for your other animals than for that coyote that just came.
YANTI : Yanti loves everyone, Sis. And Yanti is sure that this dog will be a friend and playmate in our house, Sis. Trust me!
PRM'S BROTHER: Whatever, I just said that you have to be careful because coyotes are still dogs.
YANTI: And hopefully this dog is different from the others... Oh, the Tame One. THE ANIMALS ARE GETTING MORE NOISY.
MR LIK: Come on, let's go see the coyote. We heard the other animals fighting over it.
YANTI: Thank you, Mr. Lik did not shoot him. Let's see it. WHERE THE SISTER AND MR. LIK THEN EXIT. AND YANTI ALONE FOUND THE COYOTE. YANTI PETS THE COYOTE. AND A MOMENT LATER THE TWO OF THEM DANCED TOGETHER; ACCOMPANIED BY MUSIC. You must not be naughty.
THE TAME: Huk... huk... huk... ho-oh...
YANTI: You have to be nice to all the animals I keep.
THE TAME: Huk... huk... huk... yeah, ho-oh...
YANTI: We have to be friends. And later, Yanti will teach you everything. Like catching a ball, and so on, okay?
SI JINAK : Huk ... huk ... huk ... thank you. YANTI : Before that you have to have a name. Because everyone has a name. How does Yanti call you if you don't have a name?
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... then what's its name?
YANTI: That's what I'm thinking now. My name is Yanti. And my chicken is called the red one, while my rabbit is called the long eared one... then you...
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... it's better to just do Paijo!
YANTI: Ah, you are funny. Well, I have a name for you now. And this will suit your funny behavior. Spell, Tame
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... I know of course it's lucky!
YANTI: Ha ha ha... you are indeed a cute coyote. And you will not bite me or anyone else.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... if they are not naughty.
YANTI: That's right, you are indeed smart. Well, for that I will give you the name Tame. Yes, spell it, Tame... your name is beautiful.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... My name is Tame. This little lady's words are beautiful.
YANTI: Now you are far away. Well, there! Later when I call you must answer, and on the third call you must run to me... well, ready?
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... ready!
YANTI: Tame... Tame... Tame...
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ... yes, I heard ...
YANTI: Not like that! Now I call you again... Tame!
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ... yes, I'm coming right away!
RUNNING TOWARDS THE CALL. THEY PLAY FOR A WHILE. THEN YANTI CALLS HIM BACK AND TAKES THE BALL AND TEACHES HIM TO CATCH THE BALL. THIS SCENE ALSO GOES ON FOR A WHILE. THEN OTHER ANIMALS THAT YANTI KEEPS APPEAR.
YANTI: To find out more about your intelligence, we will play ball together. And I will be the judge. Whoever fails to catch the ball three times will be punished. THE TAG: Huk, huk, huk... the punishment is carrying the winner.
RABBIT: Miss, Miss, Miss... inconsequential...
DUCK: Quack, quack, quack... how can it be...
CHICKEN: Kukuruyuk, tok-petok, tok-petok... cik, cik, cik... it's delicious on its own...
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... then what?
CHOIR: CHICKEN, DUCK, RABBIT. Up to the judges.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... if that's the case... yes, that's it...
YANTI: Friends, I am glad that you have become closer. That is what friendship really is. Between us, we must respect each other's opinions, even if we have different opinions.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... so don't you want to win by yourself?
CHORUS: CHICKEN, DUCK, RABBIT. Hweee...
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... no need, okay...
YANTI: Well, all my animals, let's play right away! THEN YANTI THROWED THE BALL AND IT WAS CAUGHT BY THE TAME. THE TAME THROWED IT TO THE CHICKEN. AND SO ON, GOING AROUND IN ALTERNATIVES. SOME FALL, AND EVERY TIME SOMEONE FALLS, THEY CHEERFUL. THIS SCENE IS ACCOMPANIED BY MUSIC SO THAT THE ATMOSPHERE IS LIVELY. IN THIS SCENE, IMPROVISION IS ENABLED SO THAT IT MAKES A COMEDY. A MOMENT LATER, 118 Grade VII SMP/MTs Revised Edition Semester 1 THEY ALL EXIT. YANTI IS THE ONLY ONE WHO STANDS UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE.
I now have an additional friend, thank you beautiful princess. You have given me a funny friend. It turns out that if a coyote is educated it can become a good friend. Ah, sleepy ... I want to sleep ... THEN MUSIC IS HEARD AND YANTI FELL ASLEEP. IN HER SLEEP YANTI DREAMS AGAIN. The princess?
P. ANGEL: Do you still remember me, dear? YANTI: Thank you, princess. The coyote was so kind to Yanti... Yes, he could be played with so the atmosphere was more enjoyable. It turns out that all animals can be united if kept with sincerity.
P. ANGEL: LAUGH. You are indeed a smart child, Yanti. But know, all living things
This will not last forever... it means that after you meet, there will definitely be a separation.
YANTI: Oh, no, the princess... Don't be tame, princess, take it...
P. ANGEL: LAUGH. Come on, smart kid. Look you're in danger. MUSIC IS HEARD AND THERE IS A TIGER'S ROAR WHERE YANTI WAS SLEEPING, WAKES UP AND IS SHOCKED.
YANTI: Am I dreaming? No... it really was the sound of a tiger. Wow, wow, how is this... it was so close.
THE TAME : APPEARS. Huk, huk, huk ... YANTI : Don't come here ... there's a tiger!
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk, get out of the way...
YANTI: No, you Jianak must also move aside...
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk, don't mind me... get out of my way, miss!
YANTI: We'd better get out of here together.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk, it's best for the miss to move aside.
YANTI: Mr. Lik... Mr. Lik... it's so quiet... the sound of the tiger's roar is getting closer. Come on, let's move away together.
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk, miss, go away immediately!
JUMPING OVER A FIERCE TIGER. AND IT TURNS OUT THAT THE TAME ONE IS MORE AWESOME, QUILTHER, WHERE YANTI CAN AVOID ITS CRUSH.
TIGER: Roar-roar... you have to move away!
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... you're the one who got out of the way!
TIGER: Roar-roar... the meat of a child is delicious, let's eat it together.
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk... greedy!
TIGER: Roar-roar... wow, wow, this jackal doesn't like human flesh.
THE TAG: Huk, huk, huk... for a long time my only food was tempeh and tofu... and a little egg...
YANTI: RESPOND. Don't miss the milk.
THE TAME: huk, huk, huk... you'd better get out of the way, miss.
TIGER: Roar-roar... that's why this time we devour this tasty meat.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... how can that be, no need...
HARIMAH: Aum-aum...
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
TIGER: Roar-roar... move away...
THE TAQUE: Huk, huk, huk... I don't want to...
TIGER: Roar-roar... then we go to war...
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... that's fine...
TIGER: Roar-roar...
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
YANTI: Watch out... be careful, Tame!
TIGER: Roar-roar...
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
BETWEEN THE TIGER AND THE TAME ONE THEN A FIERCE FIGHT OCCURS.
YANTI: Be careful, be gentle...
THE TIGER AND THE TALE ONE WERE SO FUNNY IN THE BATTLE. AND THE MUSIC GOT LOUDER SO THAT THE ATMOSPHERE BECAME CLOUD. WHERE ALL THE ANIMALS LEFT. A MOMENT LATER THE TIGER RAN AWAY WITH HIS AWESOME VOICE. "ROAR-ROAR...", AFTER THAT THE TALE ONE APPROACHED YANTI.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk, ... little lady, let's go home.
YANTI: I'm stuck in deep ground... I can't move... help me, Jinak!
THE TAME : huk, huk, huk ... how is this ...
YANTI: Oh, I know you can't help him, because you have no strength...
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk... wait for the little lady here...
YANTI: Where are you going, Jinak?
THE TAQUE: Huk, huk, huk... went home and called Mr. Lik.
THEN THE COYote WENT RUNNING AWAY. THERE'S MUSIC.
SISTER PRM: Since Yanti had a dog, she has never been seen in the yard. After feeding all her animals, she goes to play with her dog.
MR LIK: Just leave it.
BROTHER PRM: It's not like that, Mr. LIk, what if there is danger? We are surrounded by a forest where there are still many wild animals.
MR. LIK: You shouldn't think of things that aren't true. Give your little brother the freedom to play, don't restrain him, or he'll become an inferior child.
PRM'S SISTER: That's true, Mr. Lik, but Yanti is a daughter.
MR. LIK: LAUGH. What are you doing... what's the difference between men and women... let her learn to take care of herself.
PRM'S BROTHER: Whatever, Mr. Lik...
THEN THE TAME ONE APPEARED AND ALWAYS BARKED SO THAT THE SISTER AND UNCLE LIK WERE CONFUSED.
PRM'S BROTHER: Of course Yanti is in danger.
PAK LIK: Be patient... Tame, where is your little lady?
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ... over there ...
THE TAME CONTINUES TO SCREAM GREATLY.
PRM BROTHER: Mr. Lik, we should go there...
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
MR LIK: Wait a minute, I'll get the weapon first.
THE TAQUE: Huk, huk, huk... hurry up!!!
PRM BROTHER: Come on quickly, Mr. Lik!
THE SOUND OF THE DRUNKING AND THE SISTER, MR. LIK AND THE TAME EXIT. WHERE YANTI IS ALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE AND COMPLAINS.
YANTI: Oh, God, I hope my dog can come home soon and bring Mr. Lik here...
Tame... Tame...
PRM'S BROTHER: Look, Mr. Lik...
YANTI: Oh, brother... oh, Mr. Lik... thank you. Tame...
MR LIK: Come on, you should just calm down. Let me lift Yanti. That is indeed a hole from a tree that was cut down.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC AND YANTI CAN BE HELPED. WHERE WITH A STICK, YANTI HOLDS A PARTY AMIDST HER ANIMALS.
YANTI: Friends, this time Yanti is holding a party, but not a birthday party. This party was one of gratitude that Yanti was able to escape from the evil tiger's mouth and the other was to escape from falling into a deep hole, so that my feet still hurt to this day. All of this was thanks to the help of Tame, an intelligent and nimble coyote... for that Yanti will give me a gift, in the form of a white necklace, as my thanks.
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
YANTI: Come here, Tame, accept this white necklace. And the wearer of this necklace means you are... Tame who has become a good coyote.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... thank you. No need to bother, little lady.
THEN THEN HEARD BLOWING AND THE ANIMALS SING ONE OF THE SONG THAT BEGIN WITH THIS SCENE, PRECISELY THE SONG "NATURE RESERVE".
YANTI: Come on, friends, let's have fun! Oh, darling my feet still hurt.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... disco!
DUCK: Quack-quack-quack... disco!
CHICKEN: Kukuruyuk, tok-petok, tok-petok, tok-petok, cik-tik-cik... rock!
RABBIT: Cik-cik-cik... dangdut!
THEY CONTINUE TO HAVE A JOYFUL TIME. AND A MOMENT LATER THEY STAY STILL STILL IN THEIR PLACE. THE TAME AND THE PROUD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... little lady your leg still hurts.
YANTI: But I want to see my friend the forest rose that I planted a few days ago.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... the place is far away.
YANTI: Then you better wait for me here. I'll just be a minute...
THE TAQUE: Huk, huk, huk... later the little lady will fall again.
YANTI: Not tame, you guard against danger, like the evil tiger the other day.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... we'd better go home.
YANTI: Why are you so scared?
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... that's not it, little miss.
YANTI: Maybe you feel there is danger?
THE TAQUE: Huk, huk, huk... I don't know...
YANTI: You really like to joke, Tame, my dear dog.
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
YANTI: Well, you wait here. I'll look for the forest roses behind the grove.
THE TAME: Huk, huk, huk... be careful little lady!
YANTI LEAVES AND THE SOUND OF MUSIC. A MOMENT LATER A HUNTER APPEARS WITH HIS WEAPON.
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
P. HUNTER: Damn it, the hound already knows that I'm after him.
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
P. HUNTER: Now is the time for you to die by my hands. Because you have harmed me for a long time.
THE TAME : Huk, huk, huk ...
P. HUNTER: There's no escaping it in this place. It seems like it already knows. I have to be calm so that it can be knocked down with one shot. The coyote is very healthy.
THE TAME : HUK, HUK, HUK ...
P. HUNTER: Well, accept it now... bang!!!
THE COYARD SCREAMS AND FALLS DOWN. AT THE SAME TIME YANTI APPEARS.
YANTI : O, my dog, my dear Tame, is someone shooting?
P. HUNTER: Damn it, Yanti, are you crying over that vicious mangy dog?
YANTI: So, it was Uncle Kikuk who shot him?
P. HUNTER: That's right, because this coyote is the one who devoured my chickens and ducks!
YANTI: Oh, Uncle Kikuk has guessed wrong. This is Jinak. Look, this white collar is a sign that Jinak is a good coyote.
P. HUNTER: So... he is the Tame who saved you from the tiger's attack?
K.PRM & P. LIK : APPEAR. What's up... what's up...
YANTI: Brother... Mr. Lik... Jinak was shot dead... oh, I'm all alone now...
P. HUNTER: Oh, I'm sorry Yanti, my sweet child, I made a mistake so our beloved coyote was eaten by my gun bullet. Forgive me, Tame!
MR LIK: Come on, Yanti, don't cry either...
P. HUNTER: Later uncle will find another one. Later uncle will buy a better dog.
YANTI: No, thank you. Friendship and brotherhood cannot be bought. No one sells it.
CHOIR: Yanti ...
YANTI: Oh, Tame... Good God, please accept my beloved dog. Oh, Tame... remember friends, if we keep and love animals, they will defend us to the death. Therefore, no one should like to shoot animals. Take care of our environment!
THEN THEY SANG A SONG OF SORROWS:
Our friend is gone
Gone forever
For signs on humans
Likes to be thorough and careful too
Goodbye Friend
Happy and congratulatory
Goodbye Friend
Happy and congratulatory
FINISHED
After reading the concept of designing a theatrical performance, answer the questions below:
- Explain the two functions of lighting in a theater performance.
- Explain the two functions of sound systems in theatrical performances.
B. Competency Test
Knowledge
- Explain the 2 functions of stage design in a theater performance?
- Explain the 2 functions of make-up and costume design in theatrical performances?
Skills
Create a fashion design for one character
C. Summary
The performance will be able to run well if the committee can work optimally according to their duties and functions. Designing and promoting theater performances is one of the responsibilities that must be carried out by the committee.
Designing the technical layout of the stage is a complicated job and requires effort. The stage needs to be designed according to the theme of each group that will perform because it is a representation of the play that will be performed. Practice for theater groups is also important because the more practice, the better it will be during the performance.
D. Reflection
Designing a theater performance cannot be done by one person. The performance can be successful if there is cooperation, mutual respect, mutual appreciation, tolerance, honesty and politeness in carrying out the tasks and responsibilities given.
Duties and responsibilities in the committee also teach leadership. A leader is not only seen from the position but more on the implementation of the tasks and responsibilities given. So each of you is a leader. Learn to be a leader through the theater performance committee at school or in class.
Next, carry out a self-assessment by giving a check mark (v) in columns 1, 2, 3, and 4 according to your opinion.
Communicating Activities
- Write about a theater performance performed by another group.
