About the Researcher (ATR)

ATR:   SOLD

In the past, when hearing the word "Research" people often imagined a busy activity in a laboratory. An expert was busy observing the reaction of substances mixed in a test tube, or in a boiling flask, Erlenmeyer flask or other complicated tools. Thus, research was a monopoly activity of experts.

A laboratory (abbreviated as lab) is a place where scientific research, experiments, measurements or scientific training are carried out.

Laboratories are usually designed to allow these activities to be carried out in a controlled manner.

Scientific laboratories are usually distinguished according to their scientific discipline, for example physics laboratories, chemistry laboratories, biochemistry laboratories, computer laboratories, and language laboratories.

Indeed, what people imagine as mentioned above is true, but not entirely true. People in the laboratory are indeed conducting research, investigations in the field of Natural Sciences, but research is not only allowed and can be done in the field of Natural Sciences. Research can be done in all fields of Science.

However, there are still many educated people who think that research is the job of experts, professors, doctors. It is very unfortunate if such an assumption seeps into students.

At the time when there was no thesis equivalent or thesis equivalent, students were still seriously studying Research Methods because it was a provision for conducting research in order to write their thesis or dissertation. After that they were allowed to take the thesis equivalent or thesis equivalent, then assumed that knowledge about research was no longer needed.

They forgot or perhaps did not realize that anyone can do research, it is even firmly stated that scholars must be able to do research, because only through research can knowledge be developed scientifically.

A chef makes a cake with so many ounces of flour, so many eggs, so many ounces of sugar, so many ounces of butter and other ingredients. So that it becomes a delicious cake. The chef is not satisfied with the job, he always thinks of ways to get a more delicious cake with the same amount of ingredients or if necessary with fewer ingredients so that the cost is cheaper. This chef is actually also conducting research, but does not go through a clear procedure, and does not report the results of his research in writing.

Other experts, from street sweepers, cigarette factories, clothing manufacturers to experts who handle atomic bombs, all also conduct research, although the procedures and quality of their research vary.

A lecturer has the task of educating and teaching. He helps the students, he always tries to increase the level of his assistance so that better results are obtained. His efforts are varied. Maybe he provides a lot of learning motivation, maybe he changes the method he uses to explain and describe, maybe adds teaching aids and so on. Whoever wants to improve the results for whatever he is studying, then he needs research activities.

One thing that makes the world of science happy is the increasing number of scientific paper competitions held by the government for students. These activities inevitably have to be linked and even based on research work. This research work is really exciting, especially for those who like to study science.
